In the interest of security best practice, Symantec Web Security Service (WSS) will block TLS v1.1 at the Management Infrastructure network perimeter starting October 28, 2022.

Impact

All HTTPS-based connections to WSS Management related infrastructure will require TLS v1.2+ after this change. No impact is expected on modern operating systems and services. There remains a very small area of possible impact:

  • PAC File retrieval for end-of-life browsers
  • Custom scripting using out-of-date libraries

Required Action

Ensure your environment or software configurations do not artificially set or restrict the HTTPS protocol version below TLS v1.2. Upgrade software that interacts with the WSS Management Infrastructure to resume normal operations.
