Arcot monitoring had detected a decrease in inbound VISA card scheme authentication requests. Our internal investigation revealed that there was a problem on the VISA side, which caused a sharp decrease in incoming authentication requests from 02:05 GMT to 03:22 GMT.
Impact: Transaction authentication would have experienced increased latency and failed with insight being provided back to the merchant as to an error occurring. If 'Attempts' processing is not available for this transaction, it is likely that the cardholder may be have been prompted for another payment method.
Arcot engaged with VISA and received a confirmation that the problem was related to an incident they experienced and their teams were able to mitigate the problem.
