Symantec will perform a service-wide Web Security Service (WSS) deployment on January 8, 2021 at 22:00 UTC lasting for a duration of 4 hours. This release will feature minor enhancements to the user interface (UI) and new versions of WSS Agent and Auth Connector.
WSS Portal Enhancements: • Migration of the Web Security Service Help System to Broadcom’s Tech Docs Portal (techdocs.broadcom.com) • Minor UI fixes and enhancements • Improved default traffic management for WSS Agents connecting to Microsoft Update, Webex, and Zoom • Stability and performance improvements

WSS Agent 7.2.1 Enhancements: • Promotion of MacOS “Big Sur” support to GA (from v7.1 beta release) • Stability and performance improvements
WSS Auth Connector 2.5.10700.943955 Enhancements: • Enable support for cross forest selective authentication • Improved scalability by not using the S4U ticket cache • Support for WSS service hostnames longer than 256 characters • Stability and performance improvements
Impact Expect intermittent portal availability and existing authenticated portal sessions to be ended. Real-time traffic filtering will not be impacted by this maintenance.
Required Action • Following the maintenance, update all bookmarks to the Help System pages. • Plan an Auth-Connector upgrade as appropriate. Click here after the release for deployment instructions. • Plan an upgrade to the latest WSS Agent release as appropriate. Each Agent release adds significant value in the form of performance improvements and bug fixes.
